Wisdom

A knowing that goes beyond our senses. Knowing something to be right, true and just within our soul. It isn’t tangible. We don’t need proof.

“The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes.” Marcel Proust.

With age comes wisdom

Wisdom can be gained over years of life experience.  I expect a person older than myself to be wise. As in “the older I get the wiser I get.” This belief is simply due to them having lived longer than me and seen more of life than me. However I see wisdom in those much younger than myself.

“Seek the wisdom of the ages, but look at the world through the eyes of a child.” Ron Wild.

Wisdom is a virtue

Wisdom is considered one of the highest virtues of human beings. Wisdom can be a way of seeing. It comes from the Latin word, “sapientia.” The ability to think and act using understanding, common sense and insight.

“Knowledge is knowing what to say. Wisdom is knowing when to say it.” Anonymous.

Who? Me?

I recall being told after a lengthy discussion with someone I had just met, about a topic I no longer remember that I’m wise. I thought really? Me! Wise? I had and still don’t have any awareness of being wise. I believe that declaring oneself to be wise shows a lack of wisdom.

“A wise owl sat on an oak, the more he saw the less he spoke, the less he spoke the more he heard. Why aren’t we like the wise old bird?” Charles M. Schulz.

Blessings to all.
